Following his performances over the month of January in League One, Wimbledon’s Nadjim Abdou finds himself shortlisted this time around.

Sky Bet League One continued at a fine pace in the month of January as both the battles at the top and bottom of the league intensified.

The title race has been going for some time and is still very close to call with both Wigan and Shrewsbury having good months and leading the way with Blackburn Rovers not far behind.

Meanwhile, down at the bottom, Bury showed some signs of life as they look to complete a great escape from the relegation zone whilst MK Dons continued to plummet.

There’s plenty to keep an eye on across the coming months, then, but whilst we wait to see what unfolds, it’s time to take a look at the nominees for the Bristol Street Motors PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for League One…

Tom Eaves

Gillingham have been one of the form teams of late in League One with them transforming from relegation candidates to potential late chargers for the play-offs. The Gills enjoyed a perfect January and Tom Eaves matched that individually with four goals during the month, including big goals against Charlton and Fleetwood.

Ryan Edwards

Plymouth Argyle defender Ryan Edwards announced during January that he had been diagnosed with testicular cancer. The Pilgrims man isn’t going to let that stop him playing, though, with him bagging a goal and helping keep two clean sheets for the men from the South West.

Stephy Mavididi

Mavididi made an instant impact since arriving from Arsenal on loan in the January window. He scored two goals in the three appearances he made as he helped the Addicks continue their play-off push in the third tier.

John-Joe O’Toole

Northampton continue to fight against relegation in League One and midfielder John-Joe O’Toole is leading their charge right now. He scored four goals in the month of January with them coming across the four games he played ensuring he is the man to go to at the moment for the Cobblers.

Christian Walton

Walton and Wigan continue to impress defensively this season in League One. The young stopper conceded just the once during the month of January whilst he kept three clean sheets for the Latics, too. With him in goal, Wigan have a great chance of winning the title.

Nadjim Abdou

Wimbledon rallied somewhat in January as they look to keep themselves in the third tier past this season. Abdou was a big factor behind them going so well in the last few weeks as he chipped in with a goal against a floundering Bradford and helped his side keep four crucial clean sheets.

Vital Football announced previously that this season we will be assisting in giving fans the opportunity to vote in The PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Month Awards.

With the aim of giving more fans across the UK the opportunity to recognise the best performing player each month, across all four professional tiers, Vital Football will be hosting the voting widget (technical term) moving forward and you will find that below this piece, and you can place your vote for the player you think is most deserving (it’ll be your player – let’s be honest!).

The winner will be announced following the closure of the voting window.
