Manager Neal Ardley has today added a third striker to our frontline for next season, and it comes in the shape of youngster Adebayo Azeez.

The 20 year old former Charlton Athletic striker will definitely add youthful exuberance to the squad along with very good pace and energy, and could be the perfect alternative foil for fellow signings Adebayo Akinfenwa and Matt Tubbs.

Ade apparently impressed our coaching staff whilst playing for Charlton’s U21s and last season he had a few loans spells out to get Football League experience, and scored five goals during his spells with Torquay United and Dagenham and Redbridge.

Speaking to the Official Site the gaffer said of the capture.

‘He fits the profile we were looking for after bringing in two big strikers. We wanted the third forward to be a young striker who we could develop with different attributes. Ade is very git, energetic and quick and he’s a good size. He’s also got League 2 experience. Last season he got three goals in 15 games at Dagenham, but sometimes he played wider in a front three.’

Ardley goes on to say that he’s hoping to play two strikers whenever we can in the coming campaign so when we do that, Ade’s pace gives us a very good option to shake things up because he is so different in style to the others.

‘If Ade cannot learn from those two then I’d be very surprised.’

The player himself said following his free transfer and presumably you would think the signing of a one year deal with an option for a further 12 months (no contract details have been announced).

‘I’m delighted and words cannot express how happy I am to have signed. I want to start the hard graft as soon as possible. I’ve heard good things about Neal Ardley from when Michael Smith was here. He gave me really good feedback about how working with Neal improved him as a player. I saw that myself when Michael came back to Charlton after his loan at Wimbledon had ended, so when I heard Wimbledon were interested I had to get down here quickly!’
