Manager Neal Ardley has said that he’s expecting League 2 to be tougher than last year following the release of the fixture lists yesterday.

We kick off the campaign against relegated Shrewsbury Town who not only have a new manager now, but have also signed a number of players already this summer.

Speaking to the Official Site the manager said.

‘Everyone wants to get off to a good start and that is when having a good pre season comes into play. With a cup game in the fixtures for August we will be playing Saturday and Tuesday during the opening month so that will be tough. But we want to hit the ground running and have a really positive start to the season. I think it will be tougher than last season though.’

Ardley goes on to say that he feels the club needs to ‘step up a lot’ compared to our showings last season if we want to progress as we all hope we will, and he doesn’t feel that anybody at the club is under any illusions when it comes to that fact, and that has figured in the types of signings he has made this summer already because he wants to see us kick on further.
