Ardley Delighted With Fleetwood Efforts

Manager Neal Ardley couldn’t have been more delighted with our defensive showing last weekend in the score less draw with promotion chasing Fleetwood Town.

Not only did Wimbledon have the lions share of possession in the game over 90 minutes, but we also had more chance on and off target so were unlucky to not have come out of the game with all three points, but we certainly more than deserved the clean sheet and the point at the end of it.

Speaking to the Official Site with us keeping our first clean sheet since back in the game against Scunthorpe United on January 18th, Ardley’s pleasure couldn’t have been more obvious.

‘It’s not an easy place to come because Fleetwood are in the top six for a reason. They had a defeat on Tuesday and they were looking for a reaction, but I thought we played well and there was nothing between the two teams. We did not just come here for a point and we tried to win the game.’

Ardley says that this was the thinking behind going four at the back and bringing Charlie Wyke and Kevin Sainte-Luce on as he thought we could take a maximum haul from it, but sadly whilst that wasn’t to be, he felt we defended brilliantly all game and he describes Will Antwi and Darren Jones has being ‘immense’

Another good point but can’t help but think it’s a chance missed to have collected another win?
