Manager Neal Ardley has been full of praise for on loan Charlie Wyke who will leave us following the game against Bristol Rovers tomorrow.

The 21 year old loanee has made 16 appearances for the club and scored twice since joining us back in January, but Ardley has told the Official Site that although everybody would’ve hoped for a bit more in front of goal, what cannot be disputed is what he has given us in overall game play since coming to the club.

‘Charlie has been brilliant. We liked the lad prior to signing him and he scored on his debut. Though Charlie would have liked to have chipped in with a few more goals, it’s hard for an U21 player. He has come down and in many ways tried to fill the boots of Michael Smith, along with Danny Hylton. It has not quite worked out in terms of the goals, but Charlie has given 110% in every match and that’s all you can ask for.’

The gaffer goes on to say that he hopes that Wyke will return to Middlesbrough a better player following his experience with us and that he will have learnt a lot that will stand him in good stead for his future career, and he has nothing but praise for him and thanks to his parent club for allowing him to come out and spend so long with us.

Of course everybody in this equasion will be hoping that if selected to play a part in his final game for Wimbledon this season, he’ll leave us with a goal to celebrate.
