I have to say that Neal Ardley has taken the decision of Aaron Morris to reject the contract offer from AFC Wimbledon to return in favour of a move to Gillingham very well.

It goes without saying that a move to a club at a higher level will always be hard to refuse.

Ardley says that Wimbledon offered him the ‘best deal possible’ but it proved to be the fact that Gillingham could offer him league one football that eventually swayed his decision to join them on a two-year deal.

Morris would be ‘welcomed back’ to the club with him wished well for the future, Ardley told the official website: ‘Unfortunately, Aaron was offered a very good deal by Gillingham, which shows how well he did with us last season.

‘We offered him the best deal possible that we could, but the lure of League One football was too strong.

‘We wish Aaron all the best for the future and we would certainly welcome him back at Wimbledon.’

The Dons showed a lot of patience, and faith, when it came to Morris last season and it might have been thought that this might have carried some favour in him staying at Kingsmeadow, sadly it did not.

It’s the way football goes isn’t it though!
