AFC Wimbledon can now relax, and go into next season, safe in the knowledge that Sammy Moore has been secured.

There were a few worries that he could move on but the longest serving Don has put pen to paper on a new contract much to Neal Ardley’s delight.

He thought he was one of the ‘unsung heroes’ of last season but certainly one of ‘the most consistent’ at Kingsmeadow during it.

Upon the signing of the new contract the Wimbledon boss told the official website: ‘I thought he was one of our most consistent players last season alongside the likes of Barry Fuller and Andy Frampton.

‘It’s a tough league that we`re in and it requires a lot of players to do the work that makes them ‘unsung heroes’. Sammy is one of those players. He works really hard for the team and it was important to sign him again as we look to improve next season.’

The best news of the summer so far isn’t it!
