Reward a year and Neal Ardley was frantically looking around for players to bring to AFC Wimbledon in the hope of securing the clubs football league status.

Now, with avoiding relegation still the priority of course but midtable security (at least) the aim, the movement in January when the transfer window reopens is likely to be minimal arrivals with fine tuning the name of the game.

A mass influx of players, or players being looked at isn’t happening but Ardley has admitted that a defender and a striker would be heading his wish list, particularly as Michael Smith is returning to Charlton in the New Year.

Ardley told Dons Players: ‘We are looking at both ends of the pitch, both defensively and up front.

‘Michael Smith is a big one for us and we would love to keep him so we will keep monitoring that. At the same time we might take some players on short-term or long-term options if we are not able to (keep Michael). We are on the ball with it and Erik Samuelson knows what we are looking at. Simon Bassey and I have had several meetings to put plans into place.’

We know that Smith will go back to Charlton for 10-days, after that time we want an answer on his future. If he is allowed to return he will, if Charlton haven’t decided we have to move on.

This site is looking for an editor (at least contributor), so if a fan can offer us a genuine opinion from someone that supports them we would love to share it with the masses!
