Manager Neal Ardley has talked about the injury situation ahead of the game against Oxford United this weekend.

Speaking to the Official Site the gaffer confirmed that Sean Rigg would be missing from the game and wouldn’t play against his old club owing to the suspension he picked up for five yellow cards this season, picking up his fifth in the midweek FA Cup win over York City.

He also confirmed that Andy Frampton would be missing from the game.

‘Andy’s ankle is better, but he has been ill. We’ve had a few players with sniffles and we’ve kept Andy away from the place. With a bit of luck Andy will be training all next week, but because of his illness Saturday will be too soon for him.’

The gaffer goes on to say that following on from the midweek game the focus has been on ‘freshening’ everybody up again so that his started XI selection isn’t based purely on those fresh or fit enough for it.

‘This will be our fifth game in two weeks and only their third match in the same spell, but we’re not going to use that as an excuse. I’m well aware of our record against Oxford and hopefully we can turn that around. We’ll go there all guns blazing on Saturday.’

With us heading into the game on the back of successive victories the manager also took time to praise Ade Azeez’s contribution of late.

‘Ade has been great for us, at the start of the season a few people were not sure about him, but we’ve worked at making him better at what he’s good at. He’s such a willing learner and we’ve worked on him. When he does what we ask of him he brings so much pace and athleticism to our attack. He did it again the other night and I’m chuffed with him.’

With 20 year old Frankie Sutherland’s loan spell coming to an end shortly, the gaffer was also full of praise for his efforts and performances, stating that we will be trying to extend his loan spell from Queens Park Rangers for longer.

Having made five appearances so far, the gaffer explained.

‘Frankie’s loan is up on November 29 after the transfer deadline. We’ve a tough schedule so I will speak to QPR and Frankie about it. He’s a player I would like to keep at the club during that spell.’

The gaffer also confirmed that he didn’t yet know what would be happening with Mark Phillips and Harry Pell who’s deals also expire in December but he’d be delighted if he could get them both back with us as well.
