Ahead of the game this weekend against Southend United, manager Neal Ardley has confirmed that he will welcome back Andy Frampton to contention for the game.

Frampton returned to full training this week after overcoming the calf injury that has seen him miss the last two matches, and speaking to the Official Site Ardley confirmed that the defender would likely be in the squad for Saturday.

Winger Kevin Sainte-Luce however will be assessed on Friday having picked up a knee injury and skipper Alan Bennett also remains a doubt after he sustained a knock.

‘Andy has trained during the week so we fully expect him to be in contention. Alan is a doubt and Kevin has come in from training today with a knock on his knee so we don’t know how he is going to be. But the squad is looking strong for this stage of the season.’

Ardley goes on to say that hopefully Wimbledon will continue their knack lately of going until the final minutes of games and picking up late goals when we need them, and the main job at the moment is in keeping players fresh given the physical output they are giving on the pitch during games, and especially against Southend who seem to have found some form again lately, he knows it will be a very difficult encounter and our last match against them proves that to him.

‘We put in a really good performance there last season. This season we put in a resilient showing for large parts of the game with ten men. Southend are a good side and the table tells you that. We’ve got to stay physically and mentally strong because it’s not an easy place to go and get a win.’

For the gaffer he knows that too many results have ended in the words ‘Wimbledon nil’ and though it’s not through lack of trying, he’s determined to see us stop falling behind in games and ending up chasing matches, because if we can keep it tight at the back we can then look to take games one nil ourselves and he’ll be hoping to see all the work on the training pitch come to fruition this weekend.
