First team coach Simon Bassey has previewed this weekends game against Morecambe on Saturday and given us a mini injury update as well.

Speaking to the Official Site Bassey explained.

‘It’s been a tough five weeks, but the players have been a credit to us. They have driven on and chased victories from losing positions. I don’t see any reason why they won’t carry that attitude on towards the end of this season. They want to help the team finish as high as they can for their own careers too so we are looking for six points.’

Bassey says that having lost only two of our last 12, being unbeaten in four and having had the confidence boost from the Plymouth victory, he sees no reason why we can’t now get two wins and end the season with a smile.

As for Morecambe, he knows it will be a tough game though, but he backs us to come through it.

‘They have some good players and it’s always a tough game when we play Morecambe. Jim (Bentley) is a really good lad and I’m sure he’ll have them fired up. We know that they will be difficult opponents and we will treat them with respect.’

Having confirmed that we have extended Charlie Sheringham’s loan spell at Salisbury City so he can play in their final game of the season, Bassey believes that the time out will have done the player the world of good, especially given he has now scored four times in the last seven games, so he’s hoping we’ll get the benefit of that next season when returns in good confidence.

As for the injury update, Kevin Sainte-Luce has not returned to fitness in time for this game, and he’s still struggling with the knee injury that he suffered in training two weeks ago, but it’s hoped that maybe he will return in time for our final game of the campaign.
