Tom Beere has said he knows exactly which parts of his game he needs to improve on in his battle for regular first team football.

The 19 year old has recently signed his second professional deal with Wimbledon and he does believe that last season he came on leaps and bounds, but he’s talked openly and honestly with the manager and coaching staff, and he knows he has a lot further to go before he can really cement a first team place.

Speaking to the Official Site Beere said that winning his second professional deal was a big thing for him and it proved the progress that he had made, but now during his second contract he knows it’s time for him to improve more, and really step up to get his debut for us, and then hopefully become a regular starter.

‘I have grown up quite a lot and my game has matured since U18 level. When I have been in the first team squad the senior players talked to me and made me feel comfortable. I’ve had to come out of my shell a bit because I’m not much of a talker.’

He goes on to add that obviously there is always something that can be added to his game, and at his age there is room for improvement in every area and over the summer the key thing he’ll be focusing on firstly is fitness.

‘I’ve been given an off season training programme so that I’ll be fit for when we return. The manager says that if I do play a first team game then he does not feel that I would be able to last the full 90 minutes. I need to work on my fitness and maybe do extra work after training if need be.’

Could be a key 12 months for him, and manager Neal Ardley obviously believes it’s in his hands if he is to make that step up.
