Skipper Alan Bennett has said that he sees plenty of positive signs from our new look Wimbledon team and he’s confident we’ll have a good year in the coming season.

Speaking to the Official Site following the unfortunate loss to Chelsea in our last pre season fixture, Bennett said he was very excited about the season ahead because things were looking good already, although clearly we have a way to go yet.

‘It’s important collectively everyone recognises that it’s a new squad with new objectives. You cannot compare the campaign ahead to last season or even the season before. Everything is new and it’s been a real changing of the guard over the summer. Collectively everyone needs to buy into that for the first day of the season against Shrewsbury.’

Speaking with reference to the Chelsea game, Bennett adds that the positives to take from the game are abundantly clear really, and the performances from the newbies, really showed what they were about and what Wimbledon could be about this season – he knows the game also gave manager Neal Ardley food for thought in terms of things we still need to improve before we hit the opening day.
