Manager Neal Ardley has finally got his man, having today succeeded in tempting former Crawley Town midfielder Dannie Bulman to the club.

It has really been a case of third time lucky for Ardley, as he has tried on two previous occasions to get the 35 year old without success.

Speaking to the Official Site Ardley said he believed that Bulman would be a ‘big signing’ for the club as he has all the attributes he wants in a player.

‘I have tried to sign Dannie three times since I’ve been here, including during my first January window when we were fighting relegation. We watched Crawley several times last season for various reasons and I’ve been really impressed with him. He’s a fit 35 year old.’

Ardley goes on to say that Dannie says he has the body of a 25 year old, so the ladies amongst us might be raising an eyebrow, but the gaffer has done his homework on the player and the he says the feedback he’s received from scouting is that Bulman has a fantastic fitness rate and workrate for a man of his age, so he has no concerns, especially as he’s seen the effort he puts into games for himself.

‘He’s a very fit and energetic midfielder and I think he will be a big player for us next season.’

Speaking himself as the deal was announced, Bulman admitted he did have other offers and could’ve stayed in League One, and not only because he had an offer on the table from Crawley as well.

‘It’s a bit strange leaving Crawley because I’ve been there for many years, but it was a move that I thought would be good for me. There was a contract offer made to me, but I felt it was time for me to move on.’
