AFC Wimbledon have been dealt a blow by the news that Michael Collins has been recalled by Scunthorpe United.

When bringing a player in on loan you always run the risk of losing them again and this has been the case for Wimbledon with the midfielder this week with Scunthorpe bringing him back to help combat a growing injury list.

Neal Ardley praised his effort during his spell with the club, and is sorry to lose him, but has challenged others to step up to the plate and now show what they can do.

The Dons boss told the official website: ‘Michael did a great job for us and it was a pleasure working with him.

‘He got stronger the more games that he had here and I hope he plays matches at Scunthorpe. We wish him all the best.

‘It’s an opportunity for other players to prove their worth now.’

27-year-old Collins had started all nine of his league two games during his spell at Kingsmeadow and had been due to stay with the club until the end of the season but as this wasn’t a deal signed during the summer or winter transfer windows it allowed the Iron the ability to recall him if they so wished, so they have….
