Last week it was announced that AFC Wimbledon were in trouble for fielding Jake Nicholson ineligibly, and were facing a penalty.

A Football Disciplinary Commission hearing has decided that Wimbledon should be docked three-points as a result of fielding the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder against Cheltenham Town in February, following his arrival from Scottish outfit Morton.

Three points docked see the Dons drop from 14th to 18th in the league two table, however league two safety is still secured as they can’t be caught be overtaken by all the sides that go into the final weekend of action facing relegation.

A £5,000 fine has also been imposed but this has been suspended for a year.

Do Wimbledon deserve this fine and points penalty or have they been hard done by?

However, you have to question why Wimbledon lose points but Sunderland just got handed a six-figure fine, which is peanuts for the premier league side and tends to suggest that the premier league really is a league that makes up it’s own rules!
