Neal Ardley has branded Sean Rigg’s home Wimbledon debut ‘exceptional’.

The Dons were somewhat hard done by to lose to premier league giants Chelsea three-two at Kingsmeadow on Saturday with summer signing Rigg showing to the onlookers what Ardley says he’s been seeing in training for weeks.

As good as Rigg was the boss wasn’t overly surprised by his showing, he was just glad that he did show it at the weekend even if this came in defeat.

The Dons boss told the official website: ‘I thought that Sean was excellent.

‘If I’m honest he’s been our best in training for the last three weeks. His display came as no surprise to me and I’m glad that he showed it out on the pitch.

‘Sean was exceptional.’

More of the same throughout the 2014/15 season please Sean!

Jim Fenlon’s Dons career might have ended this summer, with Ardley deciding that following his ‘form and attitude during the past 12 months’ we couldn’t risk to take up the option he had in his contract of a new deal, mainly as it would have seen him rank among the highest paid players at the club.

This wasn’t something we could afford, and reduced terms not acceptable so he had to find a new challenge with this coming in Scotland now that he has signed for Scottish championship outfit Ross County.
