Wimbledon are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Jon Meades in the one nil victory over Peterborough United at the weekend at London Road was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Meades was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Meades headed a late winner in midweek, and the defender was among the goalmouth action again as AFC Wimbledon continued their rise up the Sky Bet League One table. The defender’s headed assist for Tom Elliott put the Dons a goal up against Peterborough United, and he and his Dons colleagues ensured the Posh couldn’t find a way back into the game.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Meades for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Russell Griffiths (Cheltenham Town), Jon Meades (Wimbledon), Jordan Willis (Coventry City), Alex Baptiste (Preston North End), Brad Potts (Blackpool), Erhun Oztumer (Walsall), Anthony Wordsworth (Southend United), Paul Anderson (Northampton Town), Ayoze Perez (Newcastle United), Ollie Palmer (Leyton Orient), Adam Campbell (Notts County).

Manager – Steve Bruce (Aston Villa).
