AFC Wimbledon have confirmed the players that will be leaving Kingsmeadow this summer, and among them is Dons legend Jack Midson.

Midson, who scored the goal that kept Wimbledon in the football league on the final day of the league two season on the season before last, is joined in leaving the club by Seb Brown, Will Antwi, Peter Sweeney, Charlie Strutton, Luke Moore, Rhys Weston, Callum Kennedy.

Talks with Charlie Sheringham (away) and Jake Nicholson (illness) haven’t yet taken place, this will happen in the next couple of weeks though the club have confirmed.

Neal Ardley had been quick to praise the departing players but he had to make these brave decisions based on financial reasons in some cases as well as a decision to take another direction in others.

The Dons boss told the official website: ‘Some of the players have played a massive part in the club’s history and they will always be welcome back as heroes. The rest of them have given great service during the last year or two.

‘All the players released have given everything for the club and we will support them in their future careers. We wish them all the best.

‘Decisions were made on each of the players based on certain factors. Some we could not afford to keep and others played in positions that we decided needed a shake-up.’

Brown and Moore were part of the squad that brought the club back into the football league.

It’s never an easy decision to release players, what are the thoughts on these players being released though?
