Charlie Strutton’s time with Wimbledon never really got going as injuries held him back for large periods of his couple of years at Kingsmeadow, so it was little surprise he was released this summer.

Strutton’s found himself a new club though, signing a one-year contract with former loanee clubs Braintree Town.

In seen outings during a loan spell with Braintree between September and October last year the 25-year-old found his goalscoring boots again when he bagged six-goals to earn him another chance with the Dons, or so he thought.

He was loaned out again to conference level, but this time he broke his leg on his debut for Aldershot and he didn’t play again last season with Neal Ardley deciding to release him at the end of his contract.

If Strutton can stay fit I’d not bet against him scoring a good amount of goals next season but perhaps the step-up to football league level isn’t quite for him? Best of luck to Charlie though.
