AFC Wimbledon’s appeal against George Francomb’s recent sending off was worthwhile, as this appeal has proven to be successful.

Francomb was controversially sent off in the Boxing Day defeat to Southend, it was reported as a “strong challenge” but both bosses, Wimbledon’s Neal Ardley and Southend’s Phil Brown, admitted that it was soft and he was unlucky to go.

A three-match suspension awaited him, however as the Dons appealed this it meant he could face Plymouth on Sunday as he awaited the outcome of the appeal against his unfair dismissal.

The FA met on Monday and decided that the red card wasn’t warranted, so this was rescinded and the threat of a three-match ban, which would have started on New Years Day against Dagenham has been removed.
