2011 looked as though it could end well for AFC Wimbledon but at the end of the game with Southend on New Years Eve they would be happy to see the end of the year.

Midson (7) had given Wimbledon an early lead but on the half hour Southend were level through Hall (30). The hosts job was made tougher when Jolley (45) was shown a red card on the stroke of half time.

The numerical advantage worked in Southend’s favour and by the midway point of the second half they were 3-1 up after an own goal from Stuart (51) and a strike from Phillips (64). Harris (79) completed a 4-1 win late on.

2011 has been full of good memories for AFC Wimbledon although based on the closing weeks of it this will be something they will be glad to see the back off and hope that 2012 sees an upturn in fortunes.
