The Dons host Southend tonight in a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie against Southend Utd that provides a distraction from the Dons faltering League campaign although manager Neal Ardley had bemoaned the additional fixture and it’s disruption to training ahead of the Dons long trip to Carlisle this weekend.

The game also offers a chance for the fringe players to get an opportunity for competitive game time and Adebayo Azeez is likely to start for the home side after getting his first goal of the season at the weekend.

Harry Pell and Mark Phillips May also be in the frame although the Dons will need to field at least 6 of the starting 11 that lost to Stevenage at the weekend. George Francomb remains out with an injured toe and the game may also come to soon for Andy Frampton and Jack Smith to return.

Despite the Dons victory at Roots Hall a fortnight ago, this will be a tough midweek fixture for a side struggling for home form so far.
