Wimbledon start to pre-season didn’t go as planned with the Dons undone by ‘three and easy’ Margate in a 3-0 defeat.

Former Dons Brett Johnson and Luke Moore came back to haunt us, as did former boss Terry Brown, as they both scored against their former club with no fewer than four former Wimbledon players on show as our former boss masterminded a three-nil win.

Positively the Dons improved in the second half with all the summer signings, Mark Phillips aside, featuring with Bayo Akinfenwa, Jack Smith and Sean Rigg all starting.

Trialist Matthew Parsons was also given his chance in central defence.

Brown, along with Stuart Cash, are in charge of Margate these days and included Johnson, Moore, Lewis Taylor and Jason Prior from the start, another former Don in Jamie Stuart came on in the second half.

Sam Rents left Ross Worner stranded with his ‘cross’ to put Margate ahead just before half time with Harry Pell’s error ceased upon by Johnson to extend this lead in injury-time.

Of the 10 changes made by Neal Ardley at half time summer signings Adebayo Azeez, Dannie Bulman, James Shea and Matt Tubbs were among them.

Moore soon made it three-nil though.

If this was tough them Chelsea next Saturday is likely to be even tougher, not that results count for much as this point in time do they, thankfully!

AFC Wimbledon: Ross Worner (James Shea), Tom Beere (Barry Fuller), Matt Parsons, Jack Smith (Chris Arthur), Jake Nicholson (Dannie Bulman), Harry Pell (Sammy Moore), George Francomb (Kevin Sainte-Luce), Sean Rigg (Adebayo Azeez), Chace Jacquart (Will Nightingale), Adebayo Akinfenwa (Matt Tubbs), Alan Bennett (Andy Frampton).
