Matt Tubbs’ move to AFC Wimbledon has been officially confirmed, with him signing on loan for the season.

First of all rumours said that the 29-year-old was coming to Wimbledon and then this seemed a more secured thing with the Dons today confirming that the striker has joined on loan from AFC Bournemouth for the league 2 season next time round.

It’s a deal that Neal Ardley has worked on long-term so is, obviously delighted to secure, he told the official website: ‘If you look at Matt’s goals record, then he is as good as it gets at this level.

‘He is a fantastic finisher and a real predator in the box. I’m chuffed because this is a signing I’ve worked on for two months.

‘I’ve had to show a lot of patience and it’s been tough, but for a club like us this is a major signing. If he goes on to do as well as I hope then we are all going to be very excited.’

Tubbs has a proven track record with Crawley Town at this level, and also in league one, so this is a cracking signing for the Dons that bodes well for next season.
