A successful youth development has started to produce up and coming stars of the future for Terry Brown and his current Blue Square Premier outfit AFC Wimbledon.
The latest prospect to be signed on a full time contract is nineteen year old Ryan Jackson who, last season, was playing for reserve team manager Marcus Gayle`s side. He is a fantastic prospect who can play on the left side in defence or in a more attacking role on the left flank.
Ryan was given his chance of first team football during the last few games of last season by the Dons boss and didn`t fail to impress with his pace when surging forward down the left flank. He was definitely not out of place against the more mature pros he came up against and his enthusiasm was a joy to watch.
Another good young prospect that has been given a full time contract is seventeen year old Jack Turner, another player to come up through the Dons` youth development and reserves and is now number two behind Seb Brown.
Can the Dons continue to rely on eager youthful players either coming up through their ranks or being acquired from other teams, who are currently playing in leagues below the Blue Square Conference level of football?
Only time will tell, but Terry Brown has released large numbers of players previously, retained some of the current squad and acquired new players to improve AFC Wimbledon at the end of every season since he has been in charge .
Why not join up and have your say, let me know, do you think AFC Wimbledon is going down the right road to develop their squad in order to achieve their goal of promotion to the football league.
So will the Dons` Boss finally get the right balance together next season and get the right results from a young and up and coming squad in their first season as full timers in the Conference.
