If you’re looking to earn a new contract then saying the right things doesn’t go against you does it, and Jim Fenlon has said all the right things as he goes in search of a new AFC Wimbledon deal.
When Fenlon says it though you tend to believe it as he’s been with Wimbledon since 2010 as a 16-year-old.
Fenlon has had to battle with Callum Kennedy to get regular first-team football this season but so far has made only 15 appearances whereas Kennedy had managed to turnout 25 times.
A new contract is something that he’s hoping to get, as he told Get West London: ‘Wimbledon has been my club since I was 16 really, so obviously I’ve grown up here and it would be hard to go somewhere else.
‘I’m just grateful to be here so if they offer me a new contract I will be happy to sign it, but at the moment there is nothing on the table, so it is up to me to earn a new deal.’
Wherever he played the 19-year-old is just happy to play and hopes to get more involvement before the season is out, by which time he’ll hope to have secured himself a new contract.

Been with us a while but sentiment doesn’t come into football anymore. Ardley will do what’s best for Wimbledon and not Fenlon, which could be him staying of course.
